Jaffna Kings 95/3(8.4 overs)

And with that it's wrap from me. Join our coverage of the Colombo Stars vs Galle Gladiators, which, rain permitting, will start in a bit.

Shoaib Malik is the Player of the Match. Asked about his longevity he says: "Most importantly I still enjoy coming to the grund and the hard work that goes with it. This is the only thing I know, that I can play a little bit of cricket."

On the LPL he adds: "It keeps getting bigger and bigger. I was here for the first one (SLPL) in 2012, and the one last year as well, and I can see that it's going in the right direction."

Kandy skipper Angelo Perera rues their luck, but is happy their fate remains in their own hands: "I thought we were sitting pretty till the rain came in, this was also why we wanted to bowl first. [It's between Kandy and Colombo for that final fourth spot] but we'll be playing them twice the next three games, so it's in our hands."

Jaffna skipper Thisara Perera speaks on the only real decision he had to make all game: "We can see the weather forecast," he deadpans.

7pm And that's four wins in a row for the Jaffna Kings, taking them back to the top of the table! After rain halted the Kandy innings after just 12 overs, DLS declared that the Kings needed to get 95 off 10 overs. While it certainly wasn't an impossible task, the strength of the Kings line-up made it look like a proverbial cakewalk. Avishka Fernando's 23 off 12 gave them a quick start to the chase and then Thisara's 13-ball 29 finished things off.

The Warriors though might feel a little hard done by. Having lost the toss and been put into bat - they admitted they would've liked to bowl first too - they then set about constructing an innings, keeping wickets in hand for a late onslaught - they only got 39 runs in the powerplay. However rain meant that potential onslaught would never be allowed to materialise, and DLS - taking into consideration powerplay dynamics as well - gave up a fairly gettable target for the Kings. Asalanka, who had set himself up for a big one, was left unbeaten on a well made 44 off 34.

Fernando to Perera, 1 run

And it's all over! Back of a length and pulled in front of midwicket, as Thisara completes the winning runs.

8.3
4
Fernando to Perera, FOUR runs

Flicked well! It's a full toss on the legs again, and Perera shows good wrists again to flick this square on the leg side. Man on the boundary dives for a catch but he gets nowhere near it.

8.2
1
Fernando to Malik, 1 run

Fuller this time and dabbed to behind square on the offside.

8.1
4
Fernando to Malik, FOUR runs

Controlled chaos! Short and slow. Malik waits for this and just pulls this in front of the man deep square leg, who puts in a despairing to dive to no avail.

Shiraz Ahmed to Perera, FOUR runs

Oh no Shiraz! Full and on the pads, with no man on the fence behind square on the leg side. Thisara just helps this along between the man at square leg and short fine leg.

7.5
Shiraz Ahmed to Perera, no run

Length ball, and just a bit of movement away off the surface. Thisara goes for a big swing and misses.

7.4
2
Shiraz Ahmed to Perera, 2 runs

Slower ball this, and full. But Thisara powers this to deep extra cover, well stopped by the man on the boundary line.

Poor delivery! Back of the length and angling down leg. Malik stays back and swivel pulls this past short fine leg.

Kamindu Mendis to Perera, 1 run

Length ball cut square on the off side.

Kamindu Mendis to Perera, SIX runs

And that is outta here! Thisara makes room, but Kamindu follows him with a darter down the leg side. Doesn't make a jot of difference to Thisara who just whips this over deep square leg.

Kamindu Mendis to Malik, 1 run

Length ball, skids through off the surface. Worked away towards midwicket from around off.

Here's Kamindu Mendis now. Lots of towel use to keep the ball dry. 36 needed off 24.

Colombage to Perera, FOUR runs

Edged and four! Length ball and wide, Perera swings hard at this and it gets a thick edge to where first slip would have been.

5.3
Colombage to Perera, no run

length on the stumps, tossed up but driven straight back to the bowler.

Adarsh: "@ Nisheda: The concept is that if Kandy Warriors had gotten only 10 overs to bat, they would have scored at a faster run rate. That rate is predicted by the DLS."
