Adam Gilchrist's 154 against Sri Lanka in the last qualifying match of
the Carlton and United series was not only a new national record for
the highest score - it was also the highest score ever made by a
wicket-keeper in a Limited Overs International match. He overtook
Kenya's Kennedy Otieno's 144 made against Bangladesh in the last
season.
Incidentally, this was Gilchrist's fifth hundred and he becomes the
first wicket-keeper to go thus far. He has now scored three hundreds
in the current 1998-99 season, and two in the C&U series this year,
both against Sri Lanka.
