Northern Districts Cricket is hosting a reunion of the ND side from 1979/80. In that season, Northern Districts won both the Shell Trophy and Shell Cup. This team featured many players synonymous with the growth of cricket in the region.
The players in 1979/80 were: Cliff Dickeson, Bill Fowler, Stu Gillespie, Grant Gibson, Rod Griffiths, Geoff Howarth, Chris Kuggeleijn, John Parker, Andy Roberts, Steve Scott, Karl Treiber, David White, John Wright and Mike Wright.

Shell Cup Final: Logan Park Dunedin, December 15 1979Considerable controversy surrounded the venue for the final after ND had won the round robin series, and with it the right to host the final, but the New Zealand Cricket Council awarded the home advantage to Otago. Northern Districts batsman Dickeson secured the winning run by scoring off the last ball of the 50th over.
